For the fiscal year July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, Information Technology will again be highly sensitive to the budget difficulties we all face and working on:
- Continue working with the Technology Committee, developing programs for better public service through technological means. Meetings can be viewed on Channel 28 (Comcast) or 99 (UVerse), or viewed from the City's video on demand solution for meetings, Granicus.
- Continually update this web site; look for opportunities provide better, more timely information and to save staff time; maintain up-to-date content, accuracy, thoroughness, consistency and uniformity. We expect to conduct upgrades to the sections that affect Petaluma's business friendliness.
- Continued leverage and expansion of the City's Granicus web-streaming system for providing access to City meetings.
- Leverage opportunities in web 2.0 technologies for improved effectiveness.
- Leverage investment in VoIP phone system where opportunities arise.
- Better integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Develop and deploy solutions for better worker mobility, utilizing wireless technologies. We are deploying mobile technology and a workorder system for street-workers in this fiscal year.
- We participate in the Municipal IS Association of California (MISAC). On our staff is a past President for the Northern Chapter and current State Board Director. MISAC represents city-IT operations all over California and works with the League of California Cities and other organizations to coordinate and further technology interest, understanding and support.
- We were members of the Petaluma "Green Team" (abandoned in 2008 for economic reasons) and work in support of environmental responsibility.
- Being constantly on the alert for opportunities to leverage advances in technology for the benefit of staff, allowing improvements in services to the community, or reductions in operating costs. Constant vigil for changes in technology that affect the security of our users' data and applications.
- Serve on the Board of Directors for Petaluma Community Access as the City's representative.
