Billing
The City of Petaluma is currently billing for water and wastewater (sewer) services on a monthly basis. Both of these services are included in your monthly utility bill. Your utility bill can be paid at the finance Department in City Hall at 11 English Street, Petaluma, CA 94952. For billing inquiries you may call us at 707-778-4350.

Meters are read monthly now.
Last year's bills were based on bimonthly consumption which was divided in half. One half was billed immediately after reading the meters, and the other half was billed the following month. In order to transition to a monthly reading schedule, January 2012 bills captured a longer meter reading period. The January 2012 utility bill is a one-time transitional bill which generally does not represent historic average January consumption.
If you received a January 2012 bill with consumption charges in tiers 2 or higher, we have applied a credit to your account for excess tier charges. The excess is computed by dividing your January consumption into two parts and recalculating the tiers. The credit appears on your February 2012 bill in "Credits/Payments" along with any payments received since your previous bill. January 2012 consumption will not be used for calculating next year's winter sewer average. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we provide you with a bill that is easier to understand.
