Cavanagh Swim Center

Our heated outdoor pool measures 20yd X 6yd, and 3ft to 6ft deep.  Water temperature is approximately 86 degrees. Full stairs at one end of the pool. Pool area is sheltered on all sides by walls. Entrance is on “G” St.

Recreational Swim

An unstructured swim for all ages. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult or guardian 18 years or older.

Baby and Me

Children ages 6 months to 3 years; must be accompanied in the water with an adult.

Aqua Aerobics

Exercise that's fun and feels good! A fast paced, high intensity, low impact aerobic workout. This class uses both shallow and deep water. No pre-registration necessary, drop in only. Call for more information!

Arthritis Water Exercise

A shallow water fitness class that follows the arthritis foundation guidelines for exercise. A low impact class that works on flexibility and joint mobility.

Water Exercise Hour

An hour set aside for self-paced, vertical water exercise. Pool and equipment available for water walking, deep water exercise, stretching, talk & walk, etc. The pool is supervised but there is no instructor.

Private Lessons

These lessons provide one on one training, from age 3 to adult. If your child does better with one-on-one practive time or you are an adult looking to learn how to swim, these lessons are perfect for you! Lessons are 25 minutes long for one week (M-Th) durning the summer sessions at the Petaluma Swim Center and Cavanagh Pool.

Level One

Water exploration, supported glides, face submerging, arm circles, kicking, bobbing, supported front and back floating, and games.

Level Two

Unsupported front and back floats, unsupported front and back glides, introduction of front and back crawl stroke.

Level Three

Continued instruction on front and back crawl, introduction of side breating, jump into deep water, tread water, deep water dives for retrieval of object.

Level Four

Stroke development for front and back crawl, introduction to breathstroke, introduction to elementary backstroke, diving.

Level Five

Work on stroke refinement and proficiency, introduction to flip turns and open water turns, introduction to butterfly.

Lifeguard Training Classes

Lifeguard training classes offered April, May, and June; call pool for information.
