Lieutenant Joe Edwards

Lieutenant Joe Edwards has been employed for 23 years by the Petaluma Police Department. Joe started with the Petaluma Police Department in January 1981, was promoted to Sergeant in 1999, and promoted to Lieutenant in 2004. His past assignments have been Field Training Officer, Detective, Traffic, Swat Team Leader and Defensive Tactics Instructor. He is currently assigned to patrol (West Area Commander) and oversees both the S.W.A.T. and Hostage Negotiations Teams.

Joe earned his Associate of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from the Santa Rosa Jr. College and his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from St. Mary's College of Moraga. Joe also teaches at the Extended Police Academy as an Adjunct Faculty member for the Santa Rosa Junior College.
