Lieutenant Tara Salizzoni, a 22 year law enforcement veteran, is Petaluma Police Department's Deputy Police Chief. Deputy Police Chief Salizzoni, the daughter of Lake County Sheriff?s Office Sergeant Richard Helbush slain in 1981, followed in her father?s footsteps in 1993 when she was sworn in as a police officer for Fortuna Police Department in Northern California. In 1996, she joined the Petaluma Police Department and served in variety of assignments including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and Detective. In January 2002, she was promoted to Police Sergeant where she demonstrated her leadership in Patrol and Investigations as the Detective Sergeant. In October 2014, she was promoted to Police Lieutenant and has been overseeing Patrol Operations and District Policing. Deputy Chief Salizzoni is a graduate of University of San Francisco with a BA degree in Public Administration, a graduate of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Supervisory Leadership Institute, and possesses Advanced, Supervisory, and Management certificates from POST. Additionally, she is a member of the California Peace Officers Association, California Police Chief?s Association, and the International Police Chief?s Association. Deputy Chief Salizzoni is also a graduate of Leadership Petaluma sponsored by the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce.
