Petaluma Transit Bus
Where to Get a Schedule

Petaluma Transit schedules are available at City Hall, the Community Center and the Public Library. All buses carry our schedules, or you can call for transit information at 707-778-4460. We will be glad to send you one.

Bus Stops

Buses stop at designate Petaluma Transit stops or every few blocks along the route. Bus stop location information can be obtained by calling 707-778-4460.

Route Deviations

Upon request, “Petaluma Transit” will deviate from its fixed route to these locations: Jefferson Street, Crinella Drive, Petaluma Valley Hospital (St. Joseph’s) and Department of Motor Vehicles Office. Please remember to ask your driver as soon as you board. To be picked up on a route deviation, call 707-778-4460 for time and location.

Be Early

Always get to your bus stop five minutes before your bus is scheduled to arrive. We will do our best, but variations in weather and traffic conditions sometimes make it impossible to operate exactly on the scheduled times.

Paratransit

Transportation for both ADA and general paratransit eligible persons in Petaluma is available by calling the Petaluma People Services Center Monday through Friday, 6:35 am to 6:05 pm and Saturday 9:57 am to 4:33 pm at 707-765-8493. Fare is $2.00 per trip.

Handicap Accessibility – Passengers in Wheelchairs

All of our routes are accessible to wheelchair passengers. We ask that all wheelchairs have a working brake system.

Kneeling the Bus

If you have difficulty climbing the step, ask the driver to “kneel the bus.” Our buses have a kneeling feature which lowers the bus to curb level for easier boarding.

Bicycles on Buses

Petaluma Transit buses are equipped with front-mounted bicycle racks. These racks can accommodate up to two bicycles very quickly and easily. Riders are responsible for loading and unloading bicycles on first-come, first-served basis.

Rules for Safe Riders
  • Please do not distract the driver while he or she is driving the bus.
  • Please stand behind the white line.
  • All animals must ride in carriers, except service animals.
It’s Against State Law To:
  • Evade payment of bus fare, or misuse transfers, passes or tickets to avoid fare payment.
  • Play radios, stereos or other sound equipment when riding a bus.
  • Smoke, eat, drink or expectorate while on the bus.
  • Willfully disturb other bus riders through boisterous or unruly behavior.

Penal Code Section 640 makes these infractions punishable by a fine of up to $250.00.
