Film Permits

General Information

The City of Petaluma requires a film permit for any filming conducted within the City limits. A film permit may be obtained from the City Manager's Office by calling 707.778.4345. Currently, the fee for a film permit is $561.00, with additional fees charged for street closures, posted parking, etc.

The Petaluma Downtown Association (PDA) has additional requirements for filming in the downtown area, and works with the City in the permit approval process. The City Manager's Office can help coordinate inquiries with the PDA, or they may be contacted directly at 707.762.9348. Depending upon the complexity and location of the filming requested in the downtown area, a notification time of up to two weeks may be required to allow the PDA sufficient time to notify affected merchants.
